Recycling Live Christmas Trees
All city and county services have tree recycling programs which repurpose into mulch and compost. The city of San Antonio will have additional, convenient drop off locations at various parks, so be sure to check their website link below.
General Requirements:
- Only live trees (not artificial) are accepted.
- Trees over 6 feet tall must be cut in half.
- Remove decorations, lights and stands.
- Flocked trees, wreathes and garland are not accepted.

A few weeks after the drop off, free mulch will be available at city or county sites while supplies last. Consult your waste management service to verify all info.

Curbside
If your household uses green organic bins, you may be able to cut your tree into pieces smaller pieces (2 or 3 feet or less) and contain your tree in the bin for pickup. No city or county services pick up whole trees from the curbside. Consult your waste management service to verify all info.
