Address Change
Step 1: Change Address Online
👉 USPS Change of Address
It’s pretty easy—but prepare for mild rage when the site asks security questions from 2006.
Once you’ve got mail forwarding set up, they should hold your mail at the local post office until you get your key situation sorted. (Keys are only for neighborhoods that have the “cluster mailboxes”. (Keyword: should 😅)
Mail Notifications
Bonus: Informed Delivery = Mail Stalking for Free!
👉 Sign up here
You’ll get daily emails with scans of your incoming mail. It’s like getting sneak peeks of your bills before they emotionally damage you in person.
Your Local USPS Location
Find your Post Office:
👉 If you’re trying to find your local USPS office (without yelling “Where’s my mail?!” into the void), just head to the USPS Location Finder.
Pop in your ZIP code or full address, and it’ll pull up a list of nearby post offices—complete with hours, services, and whether or not you’ll need to bring snacks for the wait. It’s like Google Maps, but with slightly more government energy. You might even find out if they handle mailbox keys, passports, or the occasional existential crisis.
Cluster Mailbox Keys
To Get Key:
🔑 March in with your ID, closing documents (Lease or Closing Disclosure), and something official from CPS Energy (with your name on it). You don’t need a blood sample—just proof you’re the rightful mail boss.
It should take under a week for the key to be delivered (probably straight to your home), but definitely double-check with them because USPS policies can be… vibey.
💸 And good news: mailbox keys are usually free, so at least one part of this move won’t drain your wallet.
